Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern use of this landing page and any current or future sharpening services provided by Edge & Finish Sharpening (collectively, the “Service”). By submitting your information, requesting service, or paying for sharpening, you agree to these Terms. This content is provided for information only and is subject to review by your legal advisors prior to launch.

1. Eligibility & Service Area

The Service is currently offered to customers located in Hamilton, Ontario and surrounding areas (~20km radius for drop-off). You must be the age of majority in your province and have the authority to provide, receive, or authorize pickup/drop-back for the items you bring to us.

2. Service Description

We sharpen certain knives, scissors, and tools on a per-item basis. The MVP workflow is a simple drop-off and pickup model, with optional home pickup and drop-back by request. Home pickup and drop-back availability, fees, and scheduling windows may vary by distance and order size. We may decline to service an item if we believe it is unsafe, damaged beyond reasonable repair, or unsuitable for our equipment.

3. Pricing & Payment

  • Pricing is generally per-item and may vary based on size, condition, and required work (e.g., chip repair or reprofiling). We will confirm the price before proceeding with any additional work.
  • If you approve a quoted service, you agree to pay the disclosed price plus applicable taxes.
  • Home pickup and drop-back fees may apply based on distance and order size, including small-order pickups.
  • Payment is due prior to or at pickup/drop-back unless otherwise agreed.
  • Promotions or discounts (if offered) apply only as described and may be changed or withdrawn at any time.

4. Customer Responsibilities

  • Transport knives and sharp tools safely (e.g., sheaths, blade guards, wrapped in towels/cardboard, or inside a container).
  • Disclose known damage (chips, bends, cracks) and any special care requirements.
  • Pick up your items within the agreed timeframe once notified that sharpening is complete.
  • Do not submit items that are illegal to possess, contaminated, or otherwise unsafe to handle. We may refuse service in our sole discretion.

5. Item Condition & Risk

Sharpening removes material from an edge. Cosmetic wear, pre-existing damage, and manufacturing defects may affect results. While we take reasonable care, you acknowledge there is inherent risk when servicing knives and tools, including the possibility of scratches, further chipping, or breakage on severely compromised items.

6. Scheduling, Drop-off & Pickup

Drop-off and pickup times are by coordination and may be limited based on availability. If an item is not picked up within a reasonable period after completion, we may apply a storage fee or require an appointment for pickup.

Pickup/drop-back windows are typically weekdays 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM and weekends 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM in scheduled windows. Handoff is the default model. Secure porch pickup/drop-back may be approved case-by-case with sealed packaging and text confirmation.

7. Pausing, Cancellation & Refunds

You may cancel a request any time before we begin work. Once sharpening work has been performed, fees are generally non-refundable. If there is an issue with the Service, contact us promptly so we can review and attempt to make it right.

Cancellations made within 2 hours of a scheduled pickup/drop-back window may incur a cancellation fee.

8. Service Modifications & Availability

We may adjust hours, availability, offered services, or service areas due to weather, staffing, equipment, or other operational reasons. Temporary suspensions caused by events outside our control (force majeure) do not create liability.

9. Promotion & Referral Programs

Promotional codes, referral credits, or introductory pricing are subject to program-specific rules. We reserve the right to change or withdraw promotions at any time if misuse or fraud is suspected.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Edge & Finish Sharpening is not liable for indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages arising from or related to the Service, including loss of use, lost profits, or business interruption. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Edge & Finish Sharpening, its directors, employees, and contractors harmless from any claims, losses, or liabilities arising out of your misuse of the Service, violation of these Terms, or breach of applicable laws.

12. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts located in Hamilton, Ontario, unless both parties agree to another forum.

13. Contact
